Any IOSCS member, or candidate member, interested in presenting a paper
should send me, as soon as possible, a proposal containing his name, the
name of his academic institution, and the title of his proposed paper. A
summary or abstract of the paper should also be included, or, when this is
not yet possible, sent to me later (before 1 March 2001). The summary
should be no more than 250 words in length and must be doubled spaced. It
should state the problem, the essential background, and the conclusions.

The first session will be a panel discussion presided over by
A. Schenker. Its topic: "The relation between MT and LXX in literary
divergent biblical texts." It will deal with the Hebrew text read by the
translator, and with questions concerning the existence or non-existence
of "Tendenz" brought in by the translator. (Panel-members: Pierre-Maurice
Bogaert, Louvain, Dieter Bohler, Frankfurt, Natalio Fernandez Marcos,
Madrid, D. Fraenkel, Gottingen; Johan Lust, Leuven, Olivier Munnich,
Paris, Emmanuel Tov, Jerusalem.)

I am confident that we will continue our tradition of presenting a strong
and interesting program at each of our meetings. I can be contacted
