see arukh completum vol 1 318 where asham is expalined as busha veherpa--
shameful and repugnant, possibly from a Greek root in refernce to gen r
end of sec 49 in ref to Josh 9:12--  or from old persian asmoi= tamei and
bad.and also gen 47:19 is referenced.-- kahut says with altered spelling
in persian= one who is infested with the spirit of impurity (ruah tumah)--
see other examples for tumah in his listing. But it does not seem to refer
to ritual impurity per se-- but to that which is disgusting. Who knows the
real root, why not semitic asham?
