RE: orion HIPPOLYTUS: THE ESSENE TEXT
The source of the idea of all creation as animate might be something
like Psalm 148, in which all of nature is called upon to praise God. At
least in the earlier period, the stars seem to be thought of as animate,
and eventually this gets translated into the idea of angels.
