orion Orion 1st c. CE nomism observance??

Somewhere I read that the average Turn of the Era Jew paid little attention
to the religious laws beyond certain milestones in his or her life UNLESS
they served the Temple.

Similar restrictions have been noted about the "cleanliness" systems of
the Egyptian priests and how onerous they were, to the extent that the duty
rotated among the population,

YET excavations in middens of the Temple servers' housing near the Temple of
Amen at Karnak show little signs those rules were strictly followed.

What hard evidence exists to show the Jerusalem Temple was any different at
the turn of the Era, that only those on duty maintained ritual purity. What
tales do the relics tell?
