historical reasoning

Whatever one's commitments with respect to particular historical figures, some
attempt beyond humour would be helpful in historical reasoning.

Philip Davies has proclaimed that it was because Constantine adopted
Christianity that the west did too. No doubt Julian, Constantine's successor,
is responsible for western atheism.

Is there some archetypal truth here, prefiguring the path of the west from
medieval Christianity to post enlightenment atheism?

It seems we can always count on DSS discussions to reveal an occasional odd
relief or two.

Shall we scroll on?
