Berger: Scrolls & Christianity

Shalom ya'll,

In The Jerusalem Post today, Walter Zanger reviewed "The Truth Under Lock
and Key? Jxsus and the Dead Sea Scrolls" (Klaus Berger [Prof. of NT at
Univ. of Heidelberg], Louisville, Westminster, John Knox Press, 108 pp.
Price not stated).

Among other things, Berger reportedly maintains that the Qumran sect
"represent a perfectly normal slice of the Judaism of the day" (Zanger) and
asserts what I have suspected -- that there is no precedent in the Scrolls
for an expectation of the Realm of the heavens coming near "and that this
idea is therefore original in the New Testament" (again, Zanger).

Has anyone read this book or have views on it?
